SATURDAY JUNE 30th Cambrensis Choir will be singing with the Gate Community chorus at the Gate Arts Centre in a performance of Faure Requiem and other pieces. FRIDAY June 8th, The Cambrensis Junior Singers in concert at Thornhill Church Centre, Cardiff with Jeff and Rachael Howard and other guest artistes. In aid of "Rebounders," a trampolining group for children with special needs. SATURDAY APRIL 8th Cambrensis at the induction of Rev James Brown to the pastorate of Calfaria Llangeinor (James is the husband of Anne Brown) SUNDAY APRIL 2nd Cambrensis are filming for BBC's Songs of Praise, to be broadcast on May 14th. The St David's Praise Choir will be taking part too, filming the next day. The programme will be focussing on Christians involved in "the arts" in Cardif SUNDAY APRIL 2nd Cambrensis Concert Band in the Wales Millenium Centre foyer at 3pm SAT MARCH 18th (7pm) The Cambrats had a great day on March 18th as they travelled to Llandovery and did a concert in the Rhys Price Memorial Hall, to a capacity crowd. Local school children joined them with some solo items and ex- Cambrat, 17 yr old Daniel Phillips delighted with his virtuoso trumpet solos. This is part of a new association with a group of Christians in Llandovery, headed by Rev Peter Hicks, a retired Baptist minister and lecturer at the London School of Theology, who has recently moved to the town and is keenly organising special events there. Soloists: Iona Jones (soprano) Deborah Davison (mezzo soprano) Huw Priday (tenor) Gwion Thomas (baritone) MAJOR EVENTS FROM 2005 SAT MARCH 5TH (7pm) "Swing into Spring" with Cambrensis Junior Singers and Concert Band at Gilgal Baptist Church (Park Ave) Porthcawl. Admission free - an offering will be taken. An evening of light music with a lot of fun! SAT MARCH 12TH (7.30pm) Cambrensis Choir and Orchestra, with The Gate Community Chorus, in concert at The Gate Arts Centre, Keppoch St Roath Cardiff (off City Rd). Tickets from The Gate on 029 2048 3344. Take this opportunity of visiting this superb new community arts centre in a converted church, beautifully restored and including a 200 seat theatre. The music will include classical favourites form the joint choirs like "Zadok," and "Easter Hymn" plus "songs from the shows" from the Community Chorus and items of various kinds form Cambrensis. An evening of popular classics with the Cambrensis Chamber Orchestra and choir Featuring young soloists and other young musicians. Programme to include the Vivaldi Double Trumpet Concerto, Sanmartini Recorder Concerto, Handel's Coronation Anthems, Faure's Cantique de Jeam Racine. Click for report and pictures February: The first Performance of a new musical on the life of Jesus, "A Shout of Joy," written by Kelvin Thomas and Anne Brown took place at Albany Road Baptist Church Cardiff, on Feb 26th at 7.30, with Cambrensis Choir and the Cambrats. March: Sat Mar 4th: The Wind Band were special guests at the Gospel Male Voice Praise annual concert at Swansea's Brangwyn Hall. Sat Mar 11th: Cambrensis participated in the Baptist Union Roadshow at Rhyd y Car Leisure Centre, Merthyr Tydfil. 2pm - 5pm. Sat Mar 18th: Second performance of "A Shout of Joy" in Exeter. April: Sat Apr 8th: An orchestral Concert at Bethesda Baptist Church, Rogerstone, Newport took place. (See the orchestra home page for some pictures). It was an evening of popular classics featuring the Cambrensis Chamber Orchestra, with David Lewis leading the orchestra and taking the solo (violin) in 'Winter' from Vivaldi's Four Seasons. May: Sat May 20th: St David's Praise (See above for picture and report) May 27-Jun 3 Moscow and St Petersburg. 35 singers flew to Moscow at the invite of Moscow Baptist Church. They sang in Moscow Baptist Churches on Sunday 28th, then in St Petersburg on Fri 2nd June. June: June 20th St David's Praise Choir and Cambrensis took part in a recording for BBC Sunday Half Hour. Saturday June 24th. The Wind Band and Cambrats gave a concert at Taffs Well United Church.
