St. David's
Christmas Praise December 7th

We are pleased
to bring you some pictures from St David's Christmas Praise which took place at
St David's Hall, Cardiff on Saturday December 7th. This year for the first time
we launched out and tried to meet the growing demand for tickets by holding 2
performances, at 3.30 and 7.30.

Almost all the seats were sold and the
atmosphere was electric - enhanced by the newly formed St David's Praise Youth
Choir - nearly 150 children aged 6-16, from various churches in South Wales
(plus one school group). Directed by Anne Brown, they sang some super songs
ranging from "Do you Hear What I Hear?" to Graham Kendrick's "What Kind of
Greatness" and "This Child." They brought the house down with a Mexican carol,
"Feliz Navidad," then melted hearts with the beautiful Mark and Helen Johnson
song, "We have Found Him," complete with "signing" actions. The youngsters had
only met together 5 times to prepare for the event and the end result was
remarkable.

Kelvin Thomas and
Jeffrey Howard directed the 350 strong adult choir who sang and led the
audience in singing new and traditional songs.

The
orchestra's input included "Waltz of the Flowers" from Nutcracker and "Walking
in the Air" from The Snowman, with solo by Bethan Diaz.

Rev James Brown from Porthcawl was the guest speaker and he
brought some illustrated Christmas messages. Guest appearances from "Fred and
'Arry," two janitors from the Hall, (alias James Brown and his friend Nigel
Irwin!) made the audience think about how prone people are to believe anything
but the truth.

And so
a good time was had by all! We hope those who were there will enjoy reminiscing
though these photos - and those who weren't there - make a date for May
10th! |
