Rudry in the Snow

2nd February 2019

Arriving at our concert venue, Rudry Parish Hall, was no mean feat for most of us who didn’t know the area, hadn’t bargained for the single track roads and who discovered that the postcode covers a very wide area! It was a surprise to see so much snow lying, too.

We arrived to find the young people of St James’s Church clearing the snow and ice from the car park and laying the tons of grit hurriedly bought from Wickes! It was ready for the capacity audience who turned up for the concert which was enjoyed by all. We always sing better to an appreciative audience and they certainly were just that, especially when Maestro Jeff treated them to a few piano solos including a medley of Ivor Novello songs!

It was all well worth the effort as a considerable amount of money was raised for St James’s Church’s “Expanding the Tent” appeal. They are planning to build new facilities at the very old church which currently doesn’t even have running water! We look forward to singing in their new building – now we know the way to Rudry!
